MONTY GORDON CROWE After an illness, Monty passed away on Valentine's Day at the age of 66. He was born on 09 October 1939 in Souris, MB and lived there until moving to Winnipeg with his mother. He attended General Wolfe and Gordon Bell schools and was active in Scouting (where he qualified to become a Queen Scout), swimming (where he won numerous medals) and delivering newspapers for the Winnipeg Free Press (where he won two trips to Chicago for many subscriptions gained). After graduating he went to work with CP rail working on railway maintenance teams helping to develop ribbon rail technology. He then attended the Manitoba Institute of Technology where he became a certified pressure welder, before moving to British Columbia to work in the Plumber's Steamfitters Union. He worked for several large corporations there doing some particularly difficult fitting and welding jobs in remote locations before returning to Manitoba to help out in the family business. In later years he enjoyed model railroading and was a member of the Winnipeg Modular Railway Club. He was predeceased by his wife Marie, mother Phyllis (nee Hadfield), father Gordon, sister Noreen and stepfather Roy Bittner. He is survived by brothers, Dan and Ron (Sharon) Bittner; nieces, Tiffany and Selina Swift, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of 5B Medicine at St. Boniface Hospital for their love and care. The memorial service will be held on Friday, 17 February at 1:00 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 815 Inkster Blvd., Winnipeg, prior to interment in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200

I am so sorry to be writing on this page. My condolences to the family. I have been searching on the Internet for an old friend from Junior High School by the name of Audrey Appelhagen - married name would have been to Ron Bittner, I believe it looks like they are divorced now. They did attend our wedding 30 years ago. Upon searching I came upon this site and Audrey did have 2 daughters, Selina and Tiffany. I would dearly love to reach my old friend as we lost touch. I work at the University of Manitoba, I would love a family member or someone to give me an update on Audrey or if she can write me or call me. My work number is 204-474-9621. Thank you very much for your assistance. - Posted by: Gwen (Old friend) on: Jan 28, 2019
