ROSE E. OMICHINSKI (nee HOLYK) September 27, 1919 - February 14, 2006 As the sun brightly rose on February 14, 2006 so did the spirit of Rose E. Omichinski rise up from her earthly bounds to join her husband Edward (1981) and son Martin (2003) who have gone on before her. Also waiting for Rose are her parents, Anne and Harry Holyk; and her sisters, Pauline, Mary (in infancy). Her long and happy life is fondly remembered by her sisters, Anne Bullietta (Stan) of Vancouver, Jean Haklar of Winnipeg, Olga Gmiterek (Joe) of Winnipeg; sister-in-law, Rose A. Omichinski of Ladywood, Helen Grycki of Beausejour and Evelyn Omichinski of Winnipeg. Daughter-in-law Jan Omichinski, Wes (Cindy) Omichinski, Wyatt (Karen) Tyler and Hilary Omichinski, Ward (Brenda) Jordan and Colin Omichinski and many nieces and nephews and friends who were all like family to her. Throughout her long life Rose faced each day with a strong determination to accomplish some kind of new astounding feat that others would consider too much of a challenge to even begin to imagine. She particularly loved being well read and informed about all current events throughout the world and would love to debate with anyone who would take the time for these great discussions, which would usually take place over many of the great meals that she would prepare. Sports and politics were her two main interests and when the NHL players were on strike, she was extremely disappointed as she looked forward to a season that never happened. Her cooking skills were beyond comparison with many of the ingredients for the dishes that she prepared being raised from her own garden that she took great pride in when she lived on the farm. In her later years she devoted her talents to her arts and crafts whether it being painting, ceramics, wood carving, knitting, sewing and whatever craft she felt she should try and accomplish. Her crocheting talents provided many warm and comforting gifts for her family and friends to treasure forever. Her greatest joy was her family particularly her great grandchildren who were No. 1 in her eyes, were all equally loved by her. Her biggest vice of all things however was her passion for card games particularly the games of whist and cribbage that she enjoyed playing right until her passing. She would enjoy going to the Beau-Head Seniors Centre when the weather was fair enough for her to venture out but if you came to her door she would say to you Shall We Have A Game during which time you could count on spending a good part of your day with her since she enjoyed your company so much. Rose leaves us all with nothing but fond memories and many words of wisdom to take along with us until we all meet again at which time she will greet you with a smile and ask if you want to eat and then Shall We have a Game. The family wishes to thank all those who made Rose's life special with their presence and help especially to Evelyn and Frieda who took many a burden off of Gramma's hands lately with their help, and too all others who made everyday a special day for Rose. Thank you, to Dr. Corder and the caregivers at the Beausejour Hospital, the EMS attendants, and staff members of the home care program for all your help during this time. Cremation has taken place and as per Rose's wishes, no service will be held. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice. RUSSELL'S of Beausejour, Manitoba are in care of arrangements.
