Date of Passing: Feb 12, 2006
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLILLIAN WASKIN With profound sorrow we announce the peaceful passing of our mom, granny, sister and aunt at St. Boniface Hospital on Sunday, February 12, 2006, at the age of 78. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her children, son Craig (Joanne), daughter Carole (Colin Demianyk), grandchildren Matthew and Tyler Waskin, Alexandrea and Bryan Demianyk. She is also survived by sister Rosalie Terenchuk, three nephews, a niece and many cousins. She was predeceased by parents John (1959) and Katharine Gawryluk (1984), sister Jean Wear (2001) and husband Eugene (November 2005). Mom was born November 19, 1927 at home and spent her early years growing up in Stony Mountain, MB. The family moved to Winnipeg in 1937 and settled in the North End. She attended Isaac Newton school, completing grade 11, then worked at Vital Statistics with the Manitoba government. She met and married her love, Eugene in 1949 and after several years began a family. She later returned to work as a book keeper at the Lincoln Motor Hotel, retiring at the age of 63. Mom excelled at knitting and needlework, was an excellent cook and loved her garden and flowers. She enjoyed picking blueberries and other fruit to make home made jams and jellies. Travelling the globe became her passion and excitement mounted for every next trip! She also enjoyed many casino visits and lunches out with sister Jean. Illness medically separated Mom and Dad in September 2004 with Mom spending the last 17 months in Health Sciences Centre, (mostly on GD3). She finally moved to Riverview Health Centre, Chronic Care Unit on January 11, 2006, spending about 10 days there before being hospitalized again. She fought long and hard, and truly was an inspiration to us all. From the bottom of our hearts we thank GD3 staff for their outstanding care these past 17 months. We had that much more time with her because of your compassion and diligence, and her perseverance. Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held Saturday, February 18 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1142 Main St. Interment will follow at Stonewall Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. We love you and we'll miss you, rest peacefully. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
