DOREEN HARRIS It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Doreen Margaret Beth Muriel Harris (nee Layzell) following a lengthy illness. Doreen passed away peacefully February 14, 2006 at the Kildonan Personal Care Home. She is survived and remembered by her family; son Wally Harris (Janet), daughter Norma Beakhouse (Gary); grandchildren, Brian Lindstrom (Kim), Erin Beakhouse, Jim Harris (Erin) and Dave Harris (Charlene) and great-grandchildren Kelvin Lindstrom, and Emma and Nate Harris. Doreen was predeceased by her husband Norm Harris in 1976. Born in Surrey, England in 1917, Doreen immigrated to Canada with her parents in 1919 and settled in Sioux Lookout, ON. She later moved to Fort William, ON to work during the Second World War. There she met Norm and they were married in 1942. Together, they raised their family in Fort William. They moved to Winnipeg in 1962 and quickly made many lifelong friends. Doreen's passions in life included travelling with friends and spending summers with her family at her camp on Lake of the Woods. A devoted and loyal wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Mom will be deeply missed by those who knew her. The family would like to thank the third-floor staff of the Kildonan Personal Care Home for their dedication and caring during Doreen's final years. Often going above and beyond the call of duty, the staff made a difficult period easier for both Doreen and her family. A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg R3C 4G2, or a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to: KLASSEN FUNERAL HOME 1897 Henderson - North of McIvor - 338-0331
