Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOAN PFEIFER (nee FRYER) Peacefully, on Friday, February 17, 2006, Joan passed away at Deer Lodge Centre, after a lengthy illness, at the age of 83 years. Joan will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Linda; niece Donna (Bob); nephew Tom (Shirley); as well as great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father (1950) and mother (1959); brother Eric (1982); and by her sister Eileen (1998). In 1922, Joan was born in Bolton, Lancashire, England and she moved to Winnipeg in 1926, living the first few years in Elmwood, then the North End and eventually resided in St. James. She was employed with the Woolworth's/Woolco Company for 34 years. Joan worked in the downtown store for many years and moved to the Unicity Woolco Store until her retirement. Joan loved to go to Grand Beach with her daughter for their summer holidays. She also loved to play Bingo several nights a week and knew all the regulars. Joan and her daughter Linda made several trips to Las Vegas with her sister Eileen and her daughter Donna. She had a special love for all animals. Joan's greatest enjoyment was seeing her daughter graduate high school and grow to a fine young woman. In accordance with Joan's wishes, a private family funeral service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joan's memory to a charity of one's choice.
