STELLA WUJEK (nee SHANDRUK) It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Stella Wujek, February 15, 2006 at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 91 years. Stella was predeceased by her husband William and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Konrad Shandruk. She is survived by her sister Frances Kusner; nieces and nephews in Baltimore, Maryland and in Winnipeg. Born and raised in Transcona, Stella attended the Transcona Central School and has established scholarships for Transcona Collegiate and Murdoch MacKay Collegiate Institute. Before moving to Minneapolis where Stella and her husband lived for 15 years, Stella worked for the Hudson Bay Company as a supervisor in the Ladies Alteration Department and in Minneapolis for Harolds Department Store. In 1964, Stella moved back to Winnipeg, as a widow, and continued working part time at The Bay until her retirement. In the thirties, Stella joined the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Isaac Mammot and was on the air with CKY in the Telephone Building on Sherbrook. The last 16 years, Stella enjoyed living in Fred Douglas Place and participated in many of the activities. In accordance with Stella's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service.
