DENNIS WILLIAM NICOLLS It is with deep sorrow and sadness that we announce the passing of Dennis W. Nicolls on February 15, 2006 at the Gimli Community Heath Centre. Dennis is survived by his wife Verna and children, Carol and Doug (Molly). He was born in London, England in 1932. He spent his early years as an evacuee in Lands Ends, Cornwall. He became a navigator in the Royal Airforce and was based in Winnipeg. He became a Canadian Citizen in 1975. Dennis and Verna married in 1964 and moved out East. His career path as an Insurance Broker spanned Manitoba, Quebec and Toronto. He retired as a Senior VP of Reed Stenhouse (Aon) in 1997. They returned home to retire in the Interlake Region of Manitoba. He has been very active and busy in his retirement years. He loved the golfing and country air, he sang in choirs, most recently the New Acopello Choir in Gimli, and has been instrumental in establishing the Gimli Toastmasters Charter. Currently, he was president of the 55+ Gimli New Horizons Activity Centre. His love for its members, the board and staff was demonstrated by his dedication and commitment to the centre. Our life in Quebec was special as we did all the activities young parents do. In Oakville, ON, where we spent 15 years, were also busy years. Dennis was founding member of Glen Abby Toastmasters and a committed leader in the Lifestream concept of inner personal growth. Dennis will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humour and loving way. He passed down to his children an enthusiasm for exploring and enjoying life. He will be missed. We love him. A memorial service will be held at the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Gimli on Monday, February 20 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Stefan Jonasson officiating. A reception will follow at the Gimli New Horizons, 3rd Ave. North. All are invited to the interment at the Robinson Spur Cemetery in Matlock, MB following the lunch. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3, or a charity of your choice. A special thanks to all the emergency staff of the Gimli Community Health Centre, your compassionate care was heartfelt and appreciated. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.
