WILLMER (BILL) MARTIN Our family regrets to announce the passing of Bill Martin, on Thursday, February 16, 2006 at Riverview Health Centre at the age of 84 years. Bill was predeceased by his wife Mary Ann in October 2004; sisters, Lydia, Elsie, Gertrude and Olga; and brothers, Fred and Walter. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Barbara (Fred) Paulson of Edmonton; his son James (Shahda) Martin; grandchildren, Michael Paulson, Sarah and Parisa Martin; sister Ila Mills of England; brother-in-law Alistair (Doreen) MacDonald of Courtney, BC and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bill was born in Yellowgrass, SK and served in the Royal Canadian Air Force in the Second World War as a tailgunner in Europe. He spent his early years working as a painter prior to his career in the Federal Government as a grain inspector, and retired in 1986. He met Maryann while he was in the Air Force in 1941, and they were married on November 25, 1944. They were avid golfers and bowlers, and enjoyed their time spent at their cottage in Lester Beach. Their greatest joys in life were their grandchildren, and they treasured every moment spent with them. Bill was a very talented carpenter who shared his skills with his friends and family. He was a very honest and hard-working man, and his patience and thoughtfulness were admired by many. He will be greatly missed by his family. A special thank you his family doctor, Dr. R. Bhayana, home care nurses, Shelley, Janice and Mary, and the staff at Riverview Health Centre for their care and kindness. Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 22 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. Interment and reception to follow.
