RONALD ROBERT KING, M.B. I was born on November 16, 1933 at the family home on NE 1/4 25-13-2W in Warren, Manitoba. I attended Warren #740 School. I started farming at the age of 16 with my father, later acquiring land of my own taking over the family farm in 1965. I formed a dance band in 1953 and married my 'piano player' and 'soul mate' Shirley McFee of Grosse Isle on June 22, 1957. We have played continuously along with many musical mates for dances and entertainment. Much togetherness shared from our family band led to our family album Together in 1979. Shirley and myself worked side by side raising our family, farming and involvement in our community as members of Warren Hall Board, Warren United Church (Myself as a youth leader for the Hi-C group) and the Warren History Book Committee. As a teenager I attended Tuxis Boys Parliament which started my involvement in Public Life. I was involved in the Co-operative Movement and Credit Union all my married life - first elected to Marquette Co-op in 1957 serving a number of years as President; elected in 1968 to Federated Co-op Board for District W1 for 27 years; CIS Board (later to become Co-operators Insurance) from 1974-1996; Popular Heights Credit Union (later becoming South Interlake Credit Union) for 23 years; Red River Co-op Board of Directors for 24 years acting as President for the past 15 years; Councillor of R.M. of Woodlands from 1998-2002. On December 17, 1973 our family farm home was destroyed by fire and I was awarded a 'Medal of Bravery' in Ottawa in 1974 for rescuing our family and on October 15, 1991 I was honoured with the Distinguished Co-operator Award for my contribution to the Co-operative movement.
