ALLEN DEAN REIMER April 15, 1971 - February 17, 2006 On Friday, February 17, 2006, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer, Allen, aged 34, passed from this life peacefully in his home. Allen will be deeply missed and loved always by his wife of nine years, Deana; children, Zachary and Kaedyn; his sister Sherril, her husband Robert Irvine and their children, Kyle, Hannah and Riley; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Neil Reimer and father-in-law Ernie Zipp. Always looking for a challenge, Allen enjoyed and succeeded in many occupations and business ventures. He worked for Boeing, sold computers and signage, worked as an Educational Assistant at Sturgeon Creek High School and was a worker in a special needs group home. Al owned and operated The Butler Did It Yard Care and was a partner in Assiniboia West Enterprises. In 2000, Al found a career he loved at Naylor Publications Inc. and quickly progressed from Sales Representative to Senior Sales Manager. Everyone knew of Al's love of fishing. He was a proud member of The Nightcrawlers' fishing team; a group of best friends who spent many happy weekends fishing all over Manitoba. Al achieved Silver Status, also known as Expert Angler, in the Master Angler Program and earned his specialist pin for Channel Catfish. Allen's greatest source of happiness was his children whom he lovingly called Partner and Precious. Last summer he taught Zachary to ride his two-wheeler. It was hard work, but they were both very proud. Allen was amazed by Kaedyn's endless energy and mischievous nature, which gave him much enjoyment. The family wishes to extend thanks for the generous support from family and friends. A heartfelt thank you to Brent and Gayle Naylor. Special thanks to Dr. Robert Reynolds and Dr. John Langdon of Orlando, FL. In Winnipeg, thanks to Dr. Ralph Wong and nurse Kathy both of CancerCare, St. Boniface Unit. Sincere thank you to Palliative Care nurses Mariette, Jennifer and Chris for their incredible kindness and compassion. Allen's life will be celebrated at Lutheran Church of the Cross, 560 Arlington St., on Tuesday, February 21 at 11:00 a.m. with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
