BJORN (BARNEY) JOHNSON On the evening of February 17, 2006, our dear husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend Bjorn (Barney) Johnson peacefully passed away at the Ashern Lakeshore General Hospital with his loving family by his side. He leaves to mourn his wife Muriel (Mickey) of 62 years; his son Terry (Marilyn) and daughter Muriel; his six grandchildren, Diana (Doug), Jennifer, Terri-Lynn (Terry), Cory (Sheila), Alanna and Lori; his seven great- grandchildren, Kristen, Scott, Garrett, Kyle, Megan, Leah and Andrew; his brothers, Skuli (Marion), Ken (Jean); sister Clara (Jim); his sisters-in-law, Beb, Mercy and Yvette; brothers-in-law, Jack, Reg (Gwen). Barney was predeceased by his infant son James and his son Reg; his brothers, Wilfred, Tom, Gordon and Art; sisters, Bena, Ella and Rooney; his parents, Arni and Jonina; his mother-in-law Violet Wallace and his brother-in-law Bert. Barney lived and farmed in the Ralph Connor District most of his life. He was also involved in commercial fishing and was a Councillor for the RM of Siglunes. Barney will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his kind heart, his zest for life, a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humour. Many thanks to the home care and hospital staff and friends who came to visit during the course of his brief illness. Friends and relatives may pay their respects between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 20 at the Arnason Funeral Home in Ashern. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21 at the Ashern Centennial Hall with Pastor Jane Zinken officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the Hall. Interment to follow at the Betel Lutheran Churchyard Cemetery (Silver Bay). Active pallbearers will be Dennis DeFoort, Buddy Bergner, Tom Britten, Rick Olson, Jason Bednarek and Keith Olson. Honorary pallbearers will be Gummi Jonsson, Steven Johnson, Ron McDougall, Harry Breitkreitz, Agnar Thorlacius and Gerry Breakey. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lakeshore Hospital Guild, in care of Julie Bergner, PO Box 721, Ashern, MB R0C 0E0.
