Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRACHEL BJARNARSON Her ways are of pleasantness and her paths are peace. Old Testament Rachel Bjarnarson, beloved wife of the late Leonard Bjarnarson died on Saturday, February 18, 2006 at Seven Regions Health Centre Palliative Care Unit. Rachel was born in St. Boniface, MB December 30, 1924. She worked for Western Glove until she met Leonard Bjarnarson. Leonard and Rachel were married June 1, 1946 at her parents home at 109 Egerton Rd. in St. Vital. They made their hone on the Whitemud River in the Steele Bridge District near Gladstone, Manitoba. Together they farmed and raised their family of five children. During the time they lived on the farm Rachel spent all of her time caring for her family and her home. There was nothing more important in her life than making sure everyone was looked after, the house was clean and there was plenty of fresh baking on hand. Although Rachel was raised in the city she adapted well to farm life and made a point of reminding us of that fact. They left the farm and retired to Gladstone in 1990. Mom was diagnosed with cancer in March 2005 and was able to live in her home until November 2005. She lived the last few months of her life in the Palliative Care Unit at Seven Regions Health Centre where she was cared for by her family and a group of very caring and compassionate staff. Mom often expressed her sincere appreciation for the care she received and felt fortunate to be cared for in her own community. She came to think of everyone who cared for her as a friend. Rachel was predeceased by her husband Leonard, son-in-law Bob Harrington, her parents Alfons and Elisabeth Muylle, brother Val and sister-in-law Louise, twin sister Irene, sisters Hilda and brother-in-law Fred, Martha and brother-in-law Peter, Jean and brother-in-law Syd, brother-in-law Norm Paterson and nephews Jim Gordon and Doug Paterson. She leaves to mourn her passing her brother Andy Muylle (Edie), sister Marg Paterson and several nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her five children, Diane Harrington, Joan (Tom) Kinley, Bob (Louise) Bjarnarson, Doug (Debbie) Bjarnarson, Glenn (Shauna) Bjarnarson; 14 grandchildren, Jill Harrington, Karen (Jeff) Roshka, Scott Kinley, Nadine (Jason) Falk, Kristyn Kinley (Will), Dean (Jen) Bjarnarson, Michael Bjarnarson (Glenda), Trevor Bjarnarson (Andrea), Mark, Melissa, and Jarratt Bjarnarson, Trevor, Kayla and Eric Bjarnarson; and four great-granddaughters, Kate and Grace Roshka, Emily Bjarnarson and Natasha Falk. Funeral service will be held at the Gladstone United Church on Thursday, February 23 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Ian Olive officiating. A private family graveside service will be held at the Gladstone Cemetery prior to the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Seven Regions Palliative Care, Box 374 Gladstone, MB R0J 0T0 or to the charity of one's choice.
