"aeshkoqunbeek" - end of feather April 19, 1930 - February 16, 2006 With broken hearts we announce the passing of Alexandra Cameron. Mom left on her journey to the spirit world on Thursday, February 16, 2006, with her family by her side. Alexandra leaves to cherish her memories, sons, Arthur, Ralph (Dorothy), Eric and Brent; daughters, Fran (Gary), Germaine, Carolynn (Dwayne), Virginia (Ivan); 32 grandchildren (the Smurkins) and 16 great-grandchildren (the munchkins); brothers, George and Joe; sisters, Lena, Theresa and Frances (Charlie); brothers-in-law, Richard (Elsie) and Donald (Darlene). Alexandra was predeceased by her husband Tony; her children, Leslie, Jerome, Denise, Bernice and Patricia; her parents Sophie and Louie Esquash; one brother Charlie; and sisters, Elizabeth and Mary; and by her grandchildren, Nathan, Randy and Lesley. Mom was born on the Swan Lake First Nation. Her early years were spent helping on the family farm and becoming very comfortable around horses. She was known for her horse skills, being able to hitch a team of horses and riding bareback. Mom was hard working and diligent all her life. Many times, with Dad away working, she kept the homefires burning. She was a kind, gentle person, offering her home and looking after others in time of need. Mom received her first communion at the age of 17 as well as embracing our traditional culture. Mom had many talents, making quilts, ruga, beading, sewing, baking and also loved the "Price is Right" and of course her BINGO and also doing puzzles of all kinds. Mom had a great sense of humour and beautiful white hair and a smile that could light up a room. Throughout the hard times her sister Lena was by her side at times through stormy weather to be with her. We would like to thank the Swan Lake Lorne Memorial Hospital nursing staff, Dr. Desmond and Drs. Taylor and Yip and nurses at St. Boniface Hospital TA South for their care of mom and support to the family. Pallbearers: Michale Desjarlais, Rodney Esquash, Tyler Esquash, Lionel Cameron, Bruce Martin, Keith Cameron. A traditional wake will be held at 4:00 p.m. at the Community Hall at Swan Lake First Nation. Interment will take place at Mariapolis Cemetery, Mariapolis, MB, at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 20. Arrangements entrusted to Adams Funeral Home at Notre Dame, Manitoba.
