BERTHA DORIS GOOLD Peacefully, on February 15, 2006 at the Concordia Hospital, our cherished mother and grandmother, Bertha Goold, passed away at age 79 years. Bertha leaves to mourn and cherish her memory, her children, James, George (Linda), John (Gloria), Alec (Wendy) and Jo-Ann; grandchildren, Derek, Hannah, Jonathon, Nathanial, Kyle, A.J., Samantha and Skylar; and her brother Hank. She was predeceased by her parents; husband John (1977) and a sister Phoebe. Family was most important to Mom. For 18 years, she provided loving care for her grandchildren, often enduring those long bus rides from Transcona. Always an active person, Mom had enjoyed her biking around Transcona; was also an avid swimmer and bowler until just late last year. Her bowling league membership proudly included both Kent IMPS Bowling and Windsor Ladies Bowling. Another proud accomplishment was being Past President of TOPS, East Kildonan Branch. At home, both gardening and knitting brought her great pleasure. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of the 3rd Floor, Concordia Hospital for the care and compassion extended to Mom. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 23, at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St. with Rev. Carol Fletcher officiating. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, memorial donations made to the Humane Society, would be appreciated. Your presence we'll miss, your memory we treasure. Loving you always, forgetting you never. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.

  • I grew up with her son, John and have many fond, memories of those times. Bertha was a very strong mother and worked very hard as the supervisor of House Keeping at the former Champs Hotel on Osborne Street. - Posted by: Randy Fisher (friend of family) on: Feb 16, 2012
