LILLIAN ELIZABETH ANN CARPENTER (nee MAY) Peacefully on Saturday, February 18, 2006 Lillian Carpenter passed away at the Concordia Hospital at the age of 80. Lil is survived by her husband John; her sons, David and Bob (Kim); her precious grandchildren, Corie and Kevin; sister-in-law Dolly in Edmonton; and her four little friends, Tickles, Teddy, Rasquel and Timone. She was predeceased by her parents, Albert (Toddy) and Beatrice; and her brother Lawrie. Lil was born April 19, 1925 in Winnipeg. In her early years, Lil excelled in sports and won many titles in her high school years. When the Second World War came, she and her cousin Ivy enlisted in the Armed Services to do their share. While in the Army she worked as a clerk in various medical hospitals stationed in Canada. In 1946 on the train to Grand Beach she met John and they were married on May 8, 1948. They spent the next 58 years together. Along with caring for her family Lil had a variety of interests. Her three B s, bowling, bingo and bridge occupied much of her spare time. She especially enjoyed her Monday Afternoon Bridge Club with the Bridge Ladies right until her passing. She also enjoyed watching her weekend television sports (curling and golf), she loved to read and even had become a computer enthusiast in her latter years. The family would like to thank Dr. Mohammed, Dr. Alvi and the nurses and staff on the third floor at the Concordia Hospital for there compassion and care. We would also like to thank Pam and Lorraine for being there in a troubling time. And thank you to the Bridge Ladies who gave Lil hope and inspiration in the final days. Cremation has taken place and at the request of Lil and her family, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society Manitoba, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7 or Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10 - 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2.
