Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDWARD GRANT MCLAUGHLIN Peacefully, with his family at his side, Ed McLaughlin passed away at the age of 72 on February 19, 2006 at St. Boniface Hospital. Ed was born March 3, 1933, the third of five sons, and was predeceased by his parents Edward and Hilda, and brothers George and Bob (Donna). He is survived by his brothers Allan (Betty) and Garry (Betty). Ed married the love of his life, Arlene in 1956 and was father to Cindy (Bill) Scott, Tracy (Walter) Weber, and Darrel (Kim) McLaughlin. He was the proud grandfather to Corrine, Branden, Deanna, Darcy, Keith, Shiane, Ray, Chris, Ryan and Justin and great-grandfather to Treyden McLaughlin. As a young man Ed served with the Canadian Navy for five years. After owning a plumbing company with his father for a few years, he started at the Health Sciences Centre as a plumber in 1975. Ed retired as the plumbing supervisor in 1988 and was an active member of the Transcona Legion. Ed's favourite times were spent with family and friends at Gull Lake. He loved to garden, feed and watch the birds, and sit around the bon fire. He also had a passion for travelling with Arlene. His talents were many and he took on numerous projects to help family and friends. He will always be remembered for his hospitality, generosity and unique sense of humor. The family would like to thank the staff and doctors of E5 at St. Boniface Hospital for their kindness and compassion as well as the home care workers that looked after him for the last few years. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Parkinson Society of Manitoba. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 24 at 2:00 p.m., Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street.
