Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID MARTIN It is with sadness, we, the family, announce the passing of David, on February 17, 2006, at the age of 81 years. Born at Spruce Lake, SK, on August 26, 1924, the sixth of seven children, to parents, Cornelius (Chris) and Aganetha Martens / Martin. The family moved to Manitoba in 1938. David enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1943 and was stationed at Leeds, England. Upon his return, he met Barbara Kolbeck and they married in 1946. Dave was employed with Perth's for over 30 years, retiring at age 59. He enjoyed cards, cribbage, pool, golfing, fishing, gardening, telling jokes and being with family and friends, especially, his grandchildren. David is survived by Barbara, his wife of 59 years; daughter Cheryl Toomer (Greg); sons, Jeffrey (Heather) and Gary; grandsons, Ryan and Jeffrey; granddaughter Lindy, Ainslie and Lucas; brother John Martens (Kay) of Niverville; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Peter of Rosenort, Chris and Allen; sisters, Anne Toogood of Fort Macleod, AB and Kay Appleton of Burnaby, BC. In accordance with Dave's wishes, cremation has taken place and no funeral service will be held. A private family gathering will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Manitoba Developmental Centre - Residence Fund, P.O. Box 1190, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 3C6 or a charity of choice.
