MARY TRACH Peacefully on Sunday, February 19, 2006 at Seven Oaks General Hospital, Mary beloved mother, baba and great baba passed away at the age of 85. She is survived by her son Larry Trach (Doreen); and daughter Laurie Walus (Ken); five grandchildren, Tracy Woodard (Brad), Jaime Zulyniak (Anthony), Kim Shumsky (Shane), Ashley and Colin Walus; two great-grandchildren, Anna and Justin Woodard. She also leaves to mourn her passing her brother Nick and wife Olga Huminicki; sister Pearl and husband Walter Senick; sister Doreen Musick and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Annie Huminicki; sister Christine Nazimek; brother Paul and wife Pauline; brother Walter and wife Mary; two infant children and her beloved husband John in July of 2005. A caring and unselfish lady was taken to be with John and her Lord and Saviour. She was born in Winnipeg Beach, MB of immigrant parents, Harry and Annie Huminicki (nee Atomaniuk). She resided on the family homestead near Winnipeg Beach before moving to Winnipeg where she took up her first job with Christie Biscuits. In October of 1949 she married her love, John Trach and they returned to the country to set up a home in Pleasant Home, near Komarno. Together they worked the land and also owned and operated the general store for seven years until making the decision to move back to Winnipeg. John and Mary bought a home in West Kildonan where they lived and raised their family for many years. Mary was a homemaker along with working part-time for Eaton's and the Post Office. For the past 30 years Mary assisted with the care of all five of her grandchildren. They were her life, her focus and her passion. She never said no whenever her children, grandchildren, family or friends needed her. Mary loved to cook for family gatherings, which were so important to her especially at Christmas and Easter. Her cooking always contained some of the homegrown vegetables, which she lovingly cared for from her garden. When you came to visit her you could not leave without eating a little something and of course a toast to your good health. Mary was a very religious woman and a pillar in the UCWLC at St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church. She donated many hours of her time and energy for the good of church and community. She will be remembered as a wonderfully kind woman who was always gracious to others and never said anything negative about anyone. She would want to be remembered as a woman who was full of life, not wanting to be left out of any gathering. Despite her failing health she never complained and lived each day to its fullest. In loving memory, God have mercy on her soul. Amen. The family would like to thank Dr. Babick, Dr. Gorski, the medicine staff at Seven Oaks General Hospital and especially Lisa who provided tender loving care during her last few days. Thanks also to Holy Family Nursing Home, 3rd floor staff where mother spent her last two years. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200-6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6, or St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2V 0M6.
