Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE MOUITT MUNDAY March 31, 1916 - February 20, 2006 Peacefully at Deer Lodge Centre, on Monday, February 20, George Munday passed away at the age of 89. He was predeceased by his wife Elsie and his grandsons, Colin (13) and Kenneth (7). He is survived by his son Larry; granddaughters, Cathie and Kristin; daughter Sandi (Glen) Mitchell; grandsons, Nathan and Ian; and brothers, Charlie, Jim (Ev) and Bill (Lena). George was born in Bethnel Green, England and immigrated to Canada with his parents, George and Annie, at age five. He was raised in Camsack, Saskatchewan with the family, later, settling in Dauphin, MB. George enlisted with the Royal Canadian Navy in 1939, where he was a radio operator serving on Corvettes. He was discharged in 1945 at the end of the Second World War. He spent 39 years with the CNR as a machinist and pipe fitter in both Dauphin and Winnipeg, retiring in 1981. His interests included amateur radio operating, the White Ensign Naval Club and Fort Rouge Legion. He was an avid sports enthusiast and loved cheering on the boys at as many practices and games as he could. He loved reading and was interested in current events. George loved his family and was happiest when he was with them. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 24 at St. Stephen's Anglican Church, 220 Helmsdale Ave. Flowers gratefully declined.
