MICHAEL WILLIAM WILSON It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the sudden death of Michael Wilson at age 46. Left to mourn are his mother and father, his children, Jesse, Rebekah, Hannah, his wife Ruth; and stepson Daren, his brother Kevin and fiancé Rose and nieces, Samantha and Jennifer Wilson. Michael was born in Winnipeg on October 26, 1959. He grew up and attended school in St. James, finishing his education at Silver Heights Collegiate where he was introduced to music, which became a lifelong passion. While a member of the school Jazz Band that represented Manitoba at the National High School Band Competition, he was selected for the All-star Band and in the closing ceremonies was voted the outstanding drummer in the competition. Although he spent several years playing for various bands, including Ron Paley, his day job was always associated with organizations which dealt with physically and\or Mentally disadvantaged children and adults. He had an enduring compassion for those less fortunate than him and it was not unusual for him to arrive for Christmas or Thanksgiving dinner with someone in tow who had no family in the city. Many of those folks continue to be in his large circle of friends. His children were the lights of his life. He was always joking and teasing, but also spent many hours in serious discussions. He treasured his time with them camping, fishing, hiking or at the cottage with Grandma and Poppa. His children when asked what they will remember about their Dad replied: Jesse: He loved his music and his drums and guitar Rebekah: My Dad really loved chocolate Hannah: He was the best Dad in the world . Michael will be sorely missed by family, friends and by the lads at Hope House. We love you Michael. Rest easy. A memorial service will take place on Friday, February 24 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. with a reception to follow. Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca. Remembrances may be made to Hope Centre Health Care, 240 Powers, Winnipeg, MB R2W 5L1 or a charity of one's choice in Michael's memory. CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715
