Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOYCE BROWN It is with deep sadness that the family of Joyce Brown announces her passing on Saturday, February 25, 2006 at the Deer Lodge Centre. Joyce will be lovingly missed by her sister Mona Korda; nieces, Nancy (Darrel) and Maureen (Michael); nephews, Robert (Kathleen) and David (Janice); and great nieces, Allison, Andrea, Robyn and Erin. On May 4, 1922, Joyce was born in Bowsman, MB and was among the small class of the first Grade 12 offered in this northern town. Following her service overseas with the R.C.A.F. Women's Division, she returned to Winnipeg. After obtaining her Home Economics degree at the University of Manitoba, she embarked on her career as a Seed Analyst with the Federal Department of Agriculture, where co-workers became another close family who fondly referred to themselves as the seedy friends'. Joyce made her home with Mona and Edward and shared her love and generous spirit with their growing family, giving them their own special memories of bringing home a cold chocolate milkshake on a hot summer night, meeting downtown at the Timothy Eaton statue for Friday night shopping, taking the bus to Portage and Main for a visit and tour of the seed laboratory, peering through her microscope, and fun summer picnics in Assiniboine Park. St. Bede's Anglican Church was her home of worship through the years where she was actively involved in various ways. In spite of coping daily with her painful disease of rheumatoid arthritis, she maintained a cheerful outlook and took a genuine interest in the lives of those around her. A celebration of Joyce's life will be held on Thursday, March 2 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Stephen's and St. Bede's Church, 99 Turner Avenue. Our family extends their heartfelt thanks to all of Joyce's caregivers, those through homecare and especially all at Deer Lodge Centre who provided her with good company and comfort care to her final days. If friends so desire, donations to the Arthritis Society would be gratefully appreciated.
