Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryOLGA (ANDERSEN) NICHOLS Peacefully, on February 26, 2006, Olga passed away at Deer Lodge Centre. Olga was born on November 3, 1914 in Moline, MB to parents, Andrew Hansen Andersen and Hansine Kristine (Pedersen) Andersen who had both come from Denmark to Montana, then to Canada. Olga was predeceased by her sisters, Johanna (McInnes) and Kathleen (Westwood); her brother John; and her husband George. She is survived by daughter Sheryl (Barry Feller); grandchildren, Jamie Feller (Dawn Morin), Lindsay Feller (Brett Stocks); great-granddaughter Alexis Cassandra Morin Feller and her brothers Hans, Andrew (Andy) and Albert (Ab). Olga was a devoted and proud aunt and is survived and remembered by many nieces and nephews and their families. Olga will also be remembered by many friends including her special and lifelong friend, Janet Plewes. Olga completed her high school by correspondence and, as a teenager, first volunteered, then worked in the Moline Co-Op. After working at a larger store in Shoal Lake, she enlisted in the Army in 1942. She worked in various positions and rose through the ranks. After receiving her commission, she became the only woman in Canada to be an officer in charge of supplies. She rose to the rank of Captain and, after the war ended, was an office manager with War Assets from 1946 to 1948. In 1948, she moved to Alberta to train store managers. When this project was completed, she accepted a position in a bank in Crossfield. There, her friends, Arnold and Margaret Mansell introduced her to Arnold's cousin, George Nichols in April of 1949. George and Olga were married just a few months later on November 11, 1949. They were married for almost 54 years before George's death in February of 2003. Olga was a devoted caregiver to Sheryl and later to George when his health failed. She worked side by side with George on the farm. All the beautiful trees around their farmyard were hand planted and protected from the rabbits by Olga. When the trees were tiny, she built little fences around them all to ensure they did not become rabbit food over the winter. She was often a member of organizing committees for various Sanford community events and was an active member of the Sanford Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid curler for many years. She and George devoted their retirement years to their roles as grandparents to Jamie and Lindsay. A memorial service and reception will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard, Winnipeg. Donations in Olga's memory can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to a charity of your choice THOMSON FUNERAL HOME 783-7211
