ANGELINA M. BEAUGRAND DIT CHAMPAGNE Peacefully, on Sunday, February 26, 2006, at the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit, Angelina passed away surrounded by her family at the age of 79 years. Angelina was born on August 9, 1926, the same day that her mother passed away and was raised by her paternal grandparents in St. Norbert, MB. She grew up in a house full of aunts, uncles and cousins where she learned to crochet and to play the piano, both which gave her much joy. After her schooling she worked at St. Boniface Hospital and then married Gérard Bourgeois. Together they raised a family of seven children who grew up in Powerview and St. Georges, MB. Mother loved us unconditionally. She continuously gave of herself and was generous beyond measure. Upon retirement, after having worked in health and home care for many years, Angelina busied herself volunteering at the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the C.N.I.B., The Deaf Centre and Deer Lodge Hospital. She loved finding treasures for her children and grandchildren. She was very proud to have learned Espéranto, lip reading and sign language. Ever smiling and courageous she was a breast cancer survivor and struggled with heart problems. Her strong faith was her support throughout her life. Angelina joins her deceased son Jean Bourgeois; parents, Armand Champagne and Angelina (Sabourin); Oblate Missionary sister Blanche-Emma; brothers, Gérard, Réginald, Marcellin, Laurent and priest Emile; sisters-in-law, Marie-Ange and Marcelle; brother-in-law Edouard; and sons-in-law, Don McDougall and Larry Sinclair. A sister Rose-Aimée Beaudette; her brother Fortunat; and sisters-in-law, Laurence and Fernande survive her. She leaves to cherish her memory, Gérard Bourgeois and family; four daughters, Thérèse Anderson (Mervyn), Marguerite Bourgeois (Scott Orsted), Denise Bourgeois, Noëlla Bourgeois-Nault (Eugène); and two sons, Paul (Pauline) and Pierre (Edith); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Angelina will also be remembered by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. The family is thankful for the care she received from all hospital staff during her brief stay at St. Boniface Hospital and to everyone who may have touched her life in a special way. Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Saturday, March 4 at 10:00 a.m. at Précieux-Sang Roman Catholic Church, 200 Kenny St. Viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Interment of the cremated remains will take place at a later date in the St. Norbert cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9 or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. There have been angels in my life... angels who show up when a kind word is needed, when a smile or an act of kindness can make a big difference.
