ALLAN RAYMOND SAYAK June 15, 1945 - February 22, 2006 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Allan Raymond Sayak. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 33 years, Jocelyne (née LaBossière) and his sons, Réjan and Vincent. He leaves to mourn his new-found siblings (in 1993): Sharon (Ken) Matthews, Greg (Clara) Prokopchuk, Barry (Diane) Prokopchuk, Andrew (Irene) Prokopchuk, Beverley (Bill) Cook, Nancy (Don) Shumsky, Peter Prokopchuk, Chrystyna Malaschuk, Warren (Kathy) Moran, Joan Genik and Larry Czorniuk. Also left to grieve are his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ivan (Gail), Colin (Sherry), Géraldine (Robert) Mabon, Elaine (Jack) Hardman, André, Danielle (Jim) Scheffelmeir and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Allan was predeceased by Jeanne and Arthur Laforme who welcomed him in their family and raised him as their own son. He was also predeceased by his birth mother Katie Sayak, his birth father Walter Czorniuk and several aunts and uncles. He was born in Winnipeg and attended St. James and Provencher Schools. He obtained a Bachelor of Education from the University of Winnipeg in 1979. As an elementary school teacher and, recently, as an Industrial Arts substitute, he touched the lives of many. A keen antique auto enthusiast and collector, he belonged to many car clubs and was an active member of the Prairie Command Military Vehicle Club. His expertise regarding the restoration hobby will be missed. Allan was a man of many talents and wide-ranging interests and he leaves a multitude of unfinished projects. The family wishes to thank the Winnipeg Fire and Rescue, the paramedics, the St. Boniface Hospital emergency and SICU staff, the surgical team and the Transplant Team Coordinator for the excellent care provided to Allan and the support given to the family. We also want to thank Fr. Roland Lanoie for his spiritual guidance and support. Cremation has already taken place and a memorial service to honour Allan's memory and celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, March 4 at 2:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, a donation may be made in Allan's memory to the St. Boniface Hospital and Research Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
