MARY BUHLER (nee PAULS) 1907 2006 On Monday, February 27, 2006 at Tabor Home Mary Buhler (nee Pauls) passed away peacefully at age 99 in Morden, Manitoba, Canada. Mary Buhler was born January 4, 1907 in Grigorewka, Russia to Jacob and Maria Pauls. At the age of 19, in June 1926, she married a neighbour boy, Frank Buhler and shortly after left with his family to immigrate to Canada. Her parents emigrated a short time later arriving in Canada six months before their daughter. Health issues delayed their arrival at Haskett, MB February 1927, after a six month detour through Mexico. Settling in a new land provided serious social and financial challenges but Mary worked tirelessly alongside her husband to provide a happy childhood for their children. Most of those years took place in Morden, MB. They traveled from Haskett to Morden by the Great Northern Railroad. Teaching children about her Saviour Jesus Christ was her lifelong passion and she touched many lives. She was a founding member of the Morden Gospel Mission, forerunner to Morden Alliance Church, where she was a charter member. She was a life member of the Gideons International. She is survived by two sisters, Tina Friesen of Morden, Elizabeth and Bill Klassen of Winnipeg; sisters-in-law, Katie Pauls and Marj Pauls Falk. Mary was predeceased by her husband Frank W. Buhler (1982), son Bennie (1960), and a son, her second child, in infancy; a daughter-in-law Vinnie (Frank) Buhler; two great-grandsons, Andre Schroeder and Titus Buhler; as well as four brothers, J.M. Pauls, Henry J. Pauls, Peter Pauls, and Henry H. Pauls, and one sister, Helen Wiebe. She is survived by one daughter, Lena and Bill Brown of Surrey, BC; three sons, Frank and Lois of Calgary, Johnny and Bonnie of Winnipeg, Jake and Marg of Morden; daughter-in-law Ruth Buhler of Morden. She is Grandma to 13 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren. She was called Grandma Buhler by hundreds of children who graduated from her Good News Clubs, Sunday School, and Children's ministries in the church.
