MARTHA PAULS Martha Pauls passed away at Winnipeg Deer Lodge Personal Care Home on Saturday, February 25, 2006, at the age of 79. She was born in Mexico, on November 12, 1926. She was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Helen Funk, her stepmother Ruth Kennedy, her sister Hannah and her brothers, Jack, Dave and Alvin. Left to mourn her passing is her family, her husband, Abe Pauls, daughter Carol Anne (Pauls) Nixon, John Nixon, grandson Jon Aaron Nixon, brother Mervin Funk (Ruth) and nieces and nephews. When her first mother died, Martha, with Hannah, looked after the other children for more than 10 years. Coming to Canada in 1929, she lived and worked in Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Married in 1955, she and her husband, Abe Pauls lived in Manitoba since 1996. At various times she was a waitress, a cook in her own restaurant, a Sunday School teacher in her church and a baby-sitter for Serbian children. Memorial Services will take place on Friday, March 3 at 1:00 p.m. at the Victory Church of God, Dalton and Mountain. Pastor Dromereski is leading the service. The family wishes to thank the medical staff at Deer Lodge, Dr. Greg and nurses, Irene and Erin for their care and kindnesses. Birchwood Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
