HELGA LAAS Helga Laas, mother, sister, oma, aunt and friend passed away on February 22, 2006 after a long and very courageous battle with cancer. Helga was born on February 13, 1942 in Arnsberg Germany to Erna and Alfred Buschhaus. She emigrated to Canada in 1968 and made her home in Winnipeg. Her life long passion for cooking and the love of feeding everyone around her, started at Pizza Place in Winnipeg where she worked for 25 years and ended at the QE II Court Yard Café in Grande Prairie where she fed staff, patients and visitors for the next 12 years. Helga will be loved forever by her two daughters, Liane (Larry) Richer and Tamara (Dave) Campbell, three granddaughters, Charnelle, Kayla and Lily; her sister Anita (Wayne) Allison of Carman, MB; two brothers, Harald (Doris) and Lothar (Petra) both of Germany. She is also survived by nephews and nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins on both sides of the ocean. Many friends, coworkers and extended family will miss her. Being the private person that she was, Helga did not want a funeral service of any kind and we thank everyone for being so understanding of her wishes. She would love for donations to be made to the Alberta Cancer Society in her name. Rest in Peace Mama
