PETER KROEKER It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Peter Kroeker on Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 91 years. Peter will be dearly missed by his brother Jake (Eva) Kroeker of Winnipeg, sisters, Margaret Dueck, Kay (Horst) Rennpferd, Agnes Seals, all of Winnipeg, and sister Joanne (Ed) Limpright of Abottsford BC, sisters-in-law, Irene Kroeker and Gladys Kroeker of Winnipeg as well as many nieces and nephews. Peter was predeceased by brothers Fred and John, brothers-in-law Henry Dueck and Mervin Seals, and nephew Erdmann Dueck. Peter was born in the village of Gnadenfeld on June 24, 1914 to Peter and Katherine Kroeker. In 1928, at the age of 14 years, he went to work on farms in the area. In 1941 Peter registered as a Conscientious Objector (CO) and spent the next five years working on farms, in forestry bush camps in Kaspuskasing ON and the Bienfat Saskatchewan coal mine. After his CO assignment ended, he again worked as a farm hand in the Altona area before moving to Winnipeg with his parents in 1950. After working a number of jobs, including a year farming with his brother Jake in Alberta, he began work with Brotham Painting and spent 10 years there working as a maintenance and delivery helper. Peter then joined Hawthorne Kitchen Cabinets working as a delivery man until his retirement in 1974. After retirement he began travelling, and enjoyed bus tours across North America, as well as two trips to Hawaii. In his latter years he stayed closer to home but continued to enjoy his independence and drove his car until the week of his passing. Peter's faith in our Lord was strong. He is in heaven now and we will miss him. Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2006 at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. No. One East and Navin Road with Pastor Edwin Epp officiating. Viewing prior to the service. Interment to follow in Green Acres Cemetery. GREEN ACRES Funeral Home, Cemetery and Crematorium Hwy. #1 E. at Navin, (204) 222-3241
