Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJESSIE STIRLING ROWSELL (nee DOWIE) Peacefully on March 3, 2006 after a life of caring for others, she is now at rest. Jessie was born October 5, 1912 to William and Elizabeth Dowie. She was predeceased by her husband Tom, parents William and Elizabeth and sister Catherine Argle. She is survived by her brother Jim of Calgary; sister Isobel Cuddy of Sandford, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-grand nieces and nephews. Jessie was born in Winnipeg and lived here until the age of 13, when the family moved to a farm in Monominto, Manitoba. The family later took over the general store from 1936 until 1945. During the Second World War, Jessie worked with St. John's Ambulance and as a seamstress sewing shirts for Eaton's mail order. She trained as a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital and as a private nurse. After her marriage to Tom in 1960, they lived in St. James and Lundar. Jessie spent her final years in Oakbank. Throughout her life, Jessie's love of music started with her playing for local concerts and continued with visits to Rainbow Stage, musical theatres and the local dinner theatre. Our thanks to the staff of Oakbank Kin Place Personal Care Home for their kindness and caring. In accordance with Jessie's wishes, cremation followed by a Memorial Service to take place on Tuesday, March 7 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East at Navin Rd. Reverend Dawn Ballantine-Dickson presiding. Interment to follow in Green Acres Cemetery.
