VERA HUSKA With her family by her side, Vera Huska (nee Pospolita), 77 years, of Dauphin, passed away at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg on Tuesday, February 28, 2006. Survived by six children, Hope Sovak (Len) of Winnipeg, Elizabeth Karuk (Pat) of Dauphin, Val Andries (Ken) of Winnipeg, David Huska (Cheryl) of Winnipeg, Carol Kraska (Paul) of Dauphin and Darlene Huska (Mike) of Edmonton; 10 grandchildren, Scott Sovak, Curtis Sovak, Warren Karuk and wife Loralei, Mindy Karuk and partner Steve, Shawna Andries and fiance Brad, Charlene Andries and partner Al, Kevin Andries, Belinda Raposo and husband Peter, David Huska Jr. and partner Andrea and Rodmond Huska; five great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Austin, Olivia, Alex and Tayler. Brother Harry Pospolita (Shirley) of Vernon, BC, sister-in-law Alice Woroby of Winnipeg and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. Mom was predeceased by husband Peter (2004) her two infant children, Sylvia and Donald, parents Peter and Teklia (nee Kostruba), brother Mike and sister Margaret. Mom immigrated from the Ukraine as an infant with her family. She grew up in the Sifton area and received her education there. In 1949, Mom married Dad. They farmed together in Sifton for several years then moved to Winnipeg where mom worked in a chocolate factory and as a seamstress for a short time. Mom and Dad moved back to Sifton to continue farming and raise their family. Later mom worked at Modern Cleaners and Kings Hotel. Mom was a very caring person who loved her family dearly and treasured her Grandchildren and great grandkids. Mom was completely devoted to her husband whom she loved and cared for deeply. The epitome of kindness, caring, loyalty, and beauty, she put the needs of her family first, before her own. She was never one to complain which was never more evident than during her recent illness. Mom enjoyed gardening, feeding the ducks and chickens on the farm. She was an expert cinnamon bun maker. One of her favorite pastimes was collecting dolls, teddy bears and unique ornaments. Prayers are offered Sunday, March 5 at Sneath-Strilchuk Chapel. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 6 at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Archimandrite Tykhon officiating. Internment follows in the St. John's Community Cemetery, Sifton, MB. Pallbearers are David Huska Jr., Scott Sovak, Curtis Sovak, Rodmond Huska, Warren Karuk, Kevin Andries, Pat Karuk, Len Sovak, Paul Kraska, Ken Andries, Mike Gillies and Peter Raposo. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. Sneath-Strilchuk Funeral Services of Dauphin is entrusted with funeral arrangements.
