FRANK J. VITT 1921 - 2006 With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Dad and Grandpa on Saturday, February 25, 2006 at the age of 84. Left to mourn his passing are his children, Sharon Turczak (Ted), Cathy White, Susan Vulcano (Carl), and Dennis Vitt (CarolLee); his cherished grandchildren, Heather Hordienko (Matt), Laura Vulcano, Alexander, Evan, and Daniel Vitt; his twin brother John; his sisters-in-law, Louise Malyk, Iris, and Frances Vitt and their respective families; and countless friends and good neighbours. Dad was born to Frances and Joseph Vitt on December 2, 1921 and grew up in Winnipeg's North End until 1939 when his family moved to their farm near Petersfield. Dad started out working as a beer waiter at the Hartney and Brooklands Hotels, until he joined Great West Life Assurance Company maintenance department, where he remained until he retired after 30 years of service. In 1953 Dad married Adella Rolski, his wife of 47 years, who left us in October of 2000. They made their first home on Bowman Avenue, then moved to the North End on Airlies Street and Mountain Avenue, and finally retired to the Lion's Place as one of the first tenant couples. Always full of colourful stories, Dad would entertain all who listened with recollections of his life experiences. Who can forget his stories about all the crazy antics with his brothers in his youth, his accordion playing days with his band The Petersfield Plowboys , the honour of changing GWL's Canadian Red Ensign to the new Canadian Maple Leaf flag in 1965, or insisting that no one call him Sir because he had not been knighted yet - his stories were countless, and so very memorable. Dad's life revolved around his family - whether it was playing cards, traveling, or simply enjoying a good bowl of soup with a glass of North End water . Everything Dad did was for his kids and we remain forever indebted to him. Dad wished to express his sincere gratitude to Dr. Lezack, and to the wonderful staff at the Seven Oaks Oncology Department for treating him with respect and dignity throughout his on-going treatments. At Dad's request, cremation has taken place, and a private family interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army or a charity of one's choice. Merci, Dad - that's French, you know! We'll miss you always. BARDAL FUNERAL HOME 843 Sherbrook Street, 774-7474 Condolences: www.bardal.ca
