CATHERINE MAKSYMCHAK (Kay Maxie) Catherine was born on August 4, 1911 in Lac du Bonnet, MB. She left home in 1924 and moved to Winnipeg where she worked at various jobs. She moved to Geraldton, ON in 1939, where she operated one of the finest guest homes in the town. She also met her future husband John Maksymchak there. In 1947 they moved to Toronto where together they owned several apartment blocks. In the early 1950's, they entered the hotel business in Manitoba. They were owners of hotels in Gladstone, Plumas, and Lockport. In 1968, Catherine retired and they moved to Winnipeg, where she has resided ever since. She was predeceased by her husband John, sisters, Margaret and Mary and brothers, Andrew, Joe, Mike, John, Frank and Paul. She wants to thank all her nieces and nephews for looking after her the best they possibly could. She especially wants to thank Eva Kalian for the friendship they share since Kay was 18 years of age. Also the same thanks goes to her friend Wanda Cybulski. Her nieces and nephews want to thank her for being the greatest aunt. The family would also like to thank the wonderful staff at Luther Home for the comfort and care they provided for our Aunty Kay. Funeral service will be held on Monday, March 6 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sobering Funeral Chapel, Park Avenue East, Beausejour, with Rev. Fr. David Brabant presiding. Interment will follow at the Brightstone cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wilf Picknicki, Dennis Lyons, Gilbert Hrysio, Reese Kostynyk, Corey Picknicki, and Lee Lyons.
