Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPH CHARLES (LIONEL) LEPINE It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Lionel Lepine, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, friend and colleague on March 5, 2006 at the age of 59 years old. He will be sadly missed by the love of his life, his loving wife Freda Lepine; his daughters, Joanne (Reece) and Julie; stepchildren, Brian, Michael and Jacquie (Andy) and granddaughter Ashley; brothers, Lucien Lepine, John Lepine (Alien); sisters, Fleurette Weselynko, Delores Perion, Blanche Gregory (Ed), Loretta Mireault, Annette Martell (Tommy), Ronnie Livingston (Darlene); brothers-in-law, Henry Garrick, Lloyd Bisson (Edna). He was predeceased by his mother and father, Joseph “Hyacinthe” Lepine and Agnes Lepine (Harel); his brothers, Jules and George Lepine; his mother-in-law and father-in-law Roderick and Emma Garrick, and sister-in-law Maryanne Erickson. Lionel was born on July 23, 1946 in the Municipality of Hanover, MB. He grew up in Marchand, MB and began learning to operate a grader with the help of his brother, he soon became the Master of the Grader and from then on worked all over Canada, and in the recent years in Northern Manitoba. He worked as a Foreman for Mulder Construction for many years, he then continued to work for various firms throughout the North. He and his wife set up their own business Mescanow Autograde & Contracting, he then sub-contracted with many Construction Companies, especially Smook Bros. Construction, Department of Highways, Strilkiwski Construction, Nelson River Construction and Tolko Industries. He also did a lot of work for various First Nation Communities. Lionel had his own dog team and loved to run them, he said it was a stress reliever. He loved going back to Bissett to visit his friends there, and went at least twice a year. In more recent years, his days off were usually devoted to working on landscaping the yard, and renovating the house. He also set aside days to go visit the “Dash”, his nickname for his granddaughter Ashley. Lionel also loved to tease and “make comments” to those he considered his friends. Lionel will be missed by his numerous family, friends and colleagues. Lionel’s family would like to thank The Pas Ambulance Service, St. Anthony’s Hospital Staff, The Pas RCMP Detachment members, and Rev. Gloria Lavallee for your help and kindness. Thanks to Dr. Rich for his care for Lionel throughout his illness (diabetes). A Wake will be held at the Ke - Na - Now Centre in Wabowden on Thursday, March 9 at 6:00 p.m. Services will be held Friday, March 10 at the Ke - Na - Now Arena in Wabowden at 1:00 p.m., Rev. Douglas Highway will be officiating. Cremation and Interment to follow at a later date in Bissett, MB. If friends so desire, donations can be made to the National Aboriginal Diabetes Association or to a Trust fund for his granddaughter Ashley. If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane, I’d walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
