Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEWEN (HUGH) MACCOLL It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Ewen (Hugh) MacColl on March 6, 2006. Hugh was born on June 30, 1922 in Medicine Hat, AB, the sixth of seven children born to Donald and Christina MacColl. During the Second World War, he served in the army and then the air force. On July 27, 1945 he married Ivy Owen. After the war, Hugh was employed by Paulin Chambers Biscuit Co. for 42 years, retiring in 1987. Hugh enjoyed curling and golfing well into his seventies. In the second half of his life, his greatest joy was in being grandpa to Christopher and Andrew, and poppa to Kelsey and Drew. It was a role at which he excelled. Hugh was predeceased by his brothers, Ian, Archibald, Duncan, and Donald; and his sister Ann. Besides his beloved wife Ivy, Hugh will be forever missed by his daughter Laurel Jones of Peterborough, ON, her husband Keith and their sons Christopher and Andrew; and by his daughter Janice Shiaro of Winnipeg, her husband Charles, their daughter Kelsey and son Drew. Hugh also leaves a sister Mary in Alberta, and many nieces and nephews across the country. A service in celebration of Hugh's life will be held on Friday, March 10 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stephen's Anglican Church, 220 Helmsdale Ave., East Kildonan. In lieu of flowers, and in honour of the animals that held a special place in Hugh's heart, donations to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., R2L 1X3, would be a welcome expression of sympathy. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements. 775-2220.
