DOROTHY BRASH (CHIVERS) August 29, 1919 - March 5, 2006 With great sadness our family announces the passing of their beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on Sunday, March 5, 2006 at the Victoria General Hospital. She was predeceased by her first husband Ben Chivers and sister Winnie Ward. Dorothy leaves us with a legacy of love, laughter and family and includes her husband Cornwall (Bud) who was a great companion to Mom in the last years of her life. She will be dearly missed by her children, Bev Gunnarson and Brian Chivers and was a much loved mother-in-law to Claude and Wendy. To her grandchildren she was the best Grandma in the whole wide world and include Dean, Loree, Todd, Tyler, Carly, Rob and Ryan and their families especially Deanna and Gisele. Mom was a cherished Nana to her very special great-granddaughter Karissa. She will also be greatly missed by her stepchildren, David, Jeannette, Mary Jane and their families. Dorothy loved people, her cat Daisy, walking, travelling, working, experiencing the fullness of life and was fiercely protective of her family. A kind and generous spirit, she loved animals and was a protector of all who were lost and hungry. Born in the Mumbles, Wales, Dorothy came to Canada in 1943 as a war bride and settled in St. James when her husband Ben returned from the war. She worked for more than 30 years at the Paddock Restaurant making many friends. Her travels with Bud in her retirement years, took her on many adventures and she was always eager to see and experience new things and people. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Friday, March 10 at 7:00 p.m. at the Fort Whyte Centre, 1961 McCreary Rd. Mom was a longtime member of Fort Whyte and loved being surrounded by animals and nature. Our heartfelt thanks to all of Mom's caregivers, especially those at Victoria Hospital and also to the friends who supported and cared for us, her family. Should friends desire donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent Rd., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3. There is not a single thing I have collected in my life that I would ever want to bring. Except the love of those who loved me and the warmth of those who cared; the happiness and memories; the magic that we shared. Arrangements entrusted to: VOYAGE FUNERAL HOME 1531 Pembina Hwy. 284-7500
