NEIL EDWARD PRESTON July 30, 1955 March 6, 2006 Peacefully, and in the presence of his family and close friend, Gord Ross, Neil passed away with much dignity at his residence in the Grace Hospice. Neil will be dearly missed by the many lives he touched. By his wife Cindy; daughters Kailie and Nikki; parents Don and Shelagh; brother Doug (Angie) and their children Mark and Michelle; brother Bob (Christy) and their children Erin and Ian; sister Eileen; as well as numerous friends and relatives. Born in Winnipeg, the family moved briefly to Calgary and London, Ontario before returning home in 1970. Neil graduated from Silver Heights Collegiate in 1973 after which he furthered his education at Northwood Institute in Midland, MI where he successfully attained a degree in Automotive Dealer Management. He enjoyed working in the car business where he spent the balance of his career. Neil loved working with people and developed many life long friends in the industry. There was no greater joy for Neil than when he was with his family and friends, especially when the gathering was held at the family cottage at Granite Lake, ON. Neil loved swimming and Dock Time with his daughters, whipping the weeds, and fishing with his buddies on our annual boys' fishing weekend . Time at the cottage always put a smile on his face. He was at peace at the lake. Neil enjoyed nature and animals, the family had many dogs and cats over the years, and he loved them all. A celebration of Neil's life will be held on Saturday, March 11 at 1:00 p.m. in Sturgeon Creek United Church, 207 Thompson Drive, St. James, with Rev. Bill Corkum officiating. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the many health care professionals who we have come to know during Neil's four year illness. The home care people who visited Neil at his home on Vimy Road, the staff at the Brummitt-Feasby ALS House and especially the fantastic people at the Grace Hospice who made Neil's last 10 months a very special time. Their endless caring and commitment to Neil's every need are gratefully appreciated and will always be remembered. We couldn't have done it without you! A special thanks to Neil's aunt, Dr. Helen Glass, cousin Susan and her husband Arni for all their love and support. In lieu of flowers, donations in Neil's memory may be made to the Grace Hospice, 260 Booth Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3J 3R5 or to the ALS Society of Manitoba, 2109 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3J OL3.
