PERE FERNAND LAPALME, OMI 1915 2006 Paisiblement, le Père Fernand Lapalme est décédé au Centre Hospitalier Taché le 8 mars 2006 à l'âge de 91 ans. En plus de sa famille religieuse, il laisse dans le deuil sa sur Laurette, ainsi que plusieurs neveux et nièces. L'ont précédé dans la tombe ses parents Antonio et Maria Lapalme (née Massé), sa sur Jeanne. Fernand est né à Coteau, QC, le 10 février 1915. Il fit ses premiers vux à Ville LaSalle, QC le 21 juillet 1935, et a été ordonné prêtre le 15 juin 1941 à Ottawa. C'est dans le diocese de Keewatin-LePas qu'il a exercé la totalité de son ministere. De 1942 a 1986 il a oeuvré a Le Pas, Sherridon, Lynn Lake où il fut le curé fondateur, Snow Lake, Thompson, Gillam, Leaf Rapids et South Indian Lake. Il prend sa retraite a la Casa Bonita en 1986. En 2005, il déménagea au Centre Hospitalier Taché. La messe de la Résurrection sera célébrée samedi, le 11 mars 2006 à 13h00 dans la chapelle de la Résidence Despins, 151 rue Despins. Visionnement dès 12h30. L'inhumation au cimetiere de Saint-Boniface. Peacefully, on March 8, 2006, Father Fernand Lapalme, OMI passed away at the Taché Nursing Centre at the age of 91. Besides his religious family, he leaves to mourn his sister Laurette, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Antonio and Maria Lapalme (nee Massé); sister Jeanne. Fernand was born in Coteau, QC on February 10, 1959. He pronounced his first vows in Ville LaSalle, QC on July 21, 1935, and was ordained priest on June 15, 1941 in Ottawa, ON. It is in the Keewatin-The Pas diocese that Father Lapalme served for the totality of his ministry. From 1942 till 1986, he served in The Pas, Sherridon, Lynn Lake where he founded the parish, Snow Lake, Thompson, Gillam, Leaf Rapids and South Indian Lake. He retired in St-Boniface in 1986. In 2005, Father moved to the Taché Nursing Centre. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, March 11, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel at Résidence Despins, 151 Despins St. with viewing beginning at 12:30 p.m. Interment will take place in the St-Boniface cemetery.
