LLOYD DENIS GILLIS It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Lloyd, on Wednesday, March 8, 2006, surrounded by family in his home, after his courageous battle with cancer. He will be remembered for his courage, strength, and perseverance. He always remained positive with every challenge he faced. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Jocelyne, of 27 years; his daughter Breanne and special friend Joel; his mother Anita; brothers Roger (Heather) and Vince (Nicole); brothers-in-law, Bernard (Bonnie), Robert (Karen), Gilles (Lisa); sister-in-law Brigitte (Richard); special aunts, uncles and longtime friends. Lloyd held a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews. Lloyd will be greeted in Heaven by his father Rene. Lloyd was born August 12, 1956 and lived his entire life in Elie, MB. He spent the last 32 years working at the family GM Dealership, Gillis Service Garage, starting at the bottom and working his way to become President. He enjoyed going to work everyday and greeting customers with a warm smile and a good story. Throughout 13 years of his illness, Lloyd rarely missed a day and continued to be an inspiration to all. All his life, Lloyd was an avid sportsman with a great love for fishing, hunting and golf. His generosity was known throughout the community by his giving nature, participation in the Elie Community Club, Knights of Columbus, Cartier Fire Department, Church fundraisers, baseball coach and Rifle Club instructor. He always looked forward to hosting his zany annual golf tournament. Lloyd and Jocy enjoyed many vacations together which took them to various destinations throughout the world. His daughter Breanne was the apple of his eye. He will be forever in their hearts. His enthusiasm and zeal for life was infectious to all that knew him. He faced adversity with a strong faith in God. It is that strong faith in God that allows us to take comfort in the knowledge that Lloyd is now in Heaven with the Lord. Join us in celebrating his life. Prayers and viewing will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church in Elie on Friday, March 10 at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the same location on Saturday, March 11 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow. Special appreciation to the doctors and nurses of CancerCare Manitoba and all those whom aided him along his journey. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in memory of Lloyd may be made to Blessed Sacrament Parish or a charity of choice.
