JOHN THOMAS GARRETT Peacefully on March 6, 2006 John passed into eternal rest. Dad was born in 1912 in Traynor, SK, and lived there until joining the army in 1939. He married Mom in Nova Scotia in May 1941 and then went overseas until 1945. He saw active duty in France, Germany, Belgium and Holland. He bought a quarter of bush land in Geysir and moved there in 1948. Dad was an avid fisherman and wanted to live off the rod. He still drove his own truck and mowed his own grass. He was very proud of these accomplishments. Dad was an avid crib player and would challenge anyone. He loved showing Mariah how to make rubber faces. Dad leaves to remember him: Ruth (Wes), Wilma, Bob (Judy), Tom (Gina), Eva (Donnie). Grandchildren: Rose, Wanda, Carla (George), Joanne, Jennifer, Kathleen, Meredith, Dillon, Nicholas, and Cassandra. Great-grandchildren: Natascha, Rose, Gregory, Mariah, Sariah. Step- grandchildren: Brian (Iris), Bruce (Kathy), Wayne, and Evelyn. Sister-in-laws: Betty (Lawrence), and Mary. Brother-in-law Martin; and many nieces and nephews. Dad was predeceased by his parents, William and Agnes; wife Rose (1975); brothers, Arthur (Anne), Walter (Alma) and Charles; and grandson-in-law Richard. A memorial will be held May 13, at 2:00 p.m. in the Geysir Hall. Flowers gratefully declined. A donation may be made to a charity of ones choice.
