Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOYCE MARY BROADBENT (nee MCCALDER) June 12, 1927 - March 4, 2006 I leave my children, daughter Rosemary and sons, Jim, Michael and Tom; my lovely grandchildren, Alana, Michael, Keesha and Massimo; my daughter-in-laws, Kim and Jessica; and brother Bob. Do not grieve for me just remember my love for all of you. I am the youngest of Nellie and Neil McCalder's nine children and have been predeceased by sisters, Lillian, Edna, Emma and brothers, Don, Douglas, Alfred and Bill. My first 20 years were lived in St. James. I was quite active in sports playing baseball for the St. James Canucks and with the McDonald Airport at the old Osborne Stadium. I also played basketball for the Success Business College and with the Winnipeg Pegs . In 1946, I met Tom and we were married in 1947. We were a good team and had a wonderful life raising our four children. We lived in Transcona where we spent our winters playing badminton, curling and of course with our beloved Bridge Club . The summers spent at the cottage at Deception Lake created so many happy memories. In 1996, we moved to St. Vital Knights Villa where many more friends and memories were made. I just wanted to say Goodbye it's been good to know you . I love you all dear family and friends. AFTERGLOW I'd like the memory of me To be a happy one I'd like to leave an afterglow Of smiles when day is done I'd like to leave an echo Whispering softly down the ways Of happy times, and laughing times And bright and sunny days I'd like the tears of those who grieve To dry before the sun Of happy memories I leave Behind - when day is done - Unknown At my request there will be no funeral service. My ashes will be mixed with Tom's and we will be laid to rest at a private family service. Remembrances may be made by a donation to the Canadian Diabetes Association in our mother's memory.
