JERRY SOPIWNYK June 29, 1942 - March 7, 2006 Peacefully in his sleep, Jerry passed away on March 7 after a determined struggle with Multiple Sclerosis for over 35 years. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 38 years, Edna; precious daughter, Cayna-Lee and her husband Chris Yarema, and the sunshine of his life, his grandchildren, Marcus and Lauren. He will be fondly remembered by his brother Wally Sopiwnyk and wife, Linda; stepsister Darlene Hawes and husband Terry; sister-in-law Irene Fridfinnson and husband Gary; father-in-law Harry Kushnir and his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by mother, Anne Bodner; stepfather Frank Bodner and mother-in-law Rose Kushnir. For over 48 years and right up to his final days, as one of Jehovah's Witnesses, Jerry devoted his life to serving his God and sharing his faith with others. He took great comfort in the Bible's promise of a time when sickness and death will be no more, and the hope of the resurrection. Despite all his health challenges, Jerry inspired all who knew him with his positive and determined attitude. He was a talented and respected Mechanical Consultant who ran his own business, Design Systems for many years. Jerry truly treasured his relationship with Edna and Cayna-Lee and they are left with many fond memories of their time spent together. He was overjoyed with the addition of his son' Chris, and grandchildren who brought him great joy and laughter. Jerry deeply appreciated the love and support shown by his family and friends over the years. A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall Centre, 227 Lakewood Blvd. at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 11 with Anthony Markham officiating. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
