MARTHA HOUSTON (nee BERGEN) It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our dear wife, mother, grandmother and sister at the age of 65 years at Riverview Health Centre on March 9, 2006. Martha was predeceased by her mother Tina Bergen and her brothers-in-law Stanford and Douglas Houston. She is survived by husband Ken, daughter Bev (Joe) Cistarelli; granddaughters Brooke and Jordan; father Isaac Bergen; brothers Ed (Dianne); John (Irene); sisters Anne (Stan) Weaver, Elizabeth (Jim) Finch, Linda (Dave) Penner and many extended family members. Martha was born in Altona in 1940 and she was raised on farms in the Clearwater and Crystal City areas. She moved to Winnipeg where she met Kenny and they were married in 1968. A year later they welcomed their daughter Beverly into their lives. She worked for over 20 years at Health Sciences Centre retiring in 2001 as a Ward Clerk. Martha was very active within her church especially the Ladies Auxiliary. She will be greatly missed by the many lives she touched. Her hope for her future with our Lord is expressed by: 2 Timothy 4:7-8 I have fought the good fight, I have kept the faith, now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous Judge will award to me on that day... The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at CancerCare Manitoba (Palliative Care) and Riverview Health centre for all their efforts to keep Mom comfortable.
