CANDIDA SOARES Peacefully on March 10, 2006, Candida passed away at St. Joseph's Residence at the age of 99 years. Candida is survived by her sons Dinarte (Venezuela), Edgard (Wpg), John (St. John, AB); daughters Margareda (Wpg), Armanda (Wpg), Aura (Mass.); 26 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren and 5 great great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband John da Costa Botelho in 1955. Candida was born in S. Miguel, Azores on October 1, 1906. She moved to Venezuela in 1960 to join her son Dinarte, from there she travelled to the US then Winnipeg. She spent the last 4 years of her life at St. Joseph's Residence. Candida was a very hardworking, religious woman. She was a caring and loving mother and grandmother who loved her family. She always had a story to share and that will be missed. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to all the staff at St. Joseph's Residence. Their excellent care and compassion is greatly appreciated. Prayers will be said on Monday, March 13, at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 14 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Avenue West. Pallbearers will be great- grandsons, Danny, Dennis, Kevin, Nicholas, Jessie and grandson Rui. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Candida's memory to St. Joseph's Residence.
