LANCE LIONEL MCKIM (LANNY) December 5, 1945 - March 10, 2006 It is with deep sadness that the family of Lance McKim announce his passing on March 10, 2006. Lance was predeceased by his parents, Flo and Lance McKim and his brother Jim. He will be profoundly missed by his wife Glenda (nee Frejuk); sons, Jonathan and Benjamin; brother Doug (Sheila); sister Colleen Storie (Lanny); sister-in-law Valerie and brothers-in-law Terry Frejuk (Nancy) and Robert Frejuk. Uncle Lanny will also be irreplaceable to nieces and nephews, Dillon, Maxine, Ainsley, Jennifer, Brent, Kenny, Jamie, Leanne, Jenni and Kim; as well as to his many friends and neighbours. Lanny was born in Toronto, ON, moving first to Red Lake and then to Winnipeg. He was the eldest of four siblings and was devoted to his mother, brothers and sister. He also spent many happy childhood times on the farm in St. Jean, MB, surrounded by uncles, aunts and cousins. These happy memories stayed with him throughout his life. In 1975, Lanny and Glenda were married and spent many years creating a home, having adventures with ski-dooing, flying and boating and babysitting their much-loved nieces and nephews. In addition, Lanny distinguished himself as a bush pilot and the owner of Little Grand Rapids Air Service. During the coming years, Lanny and Glenda were particularly blessed with the arrival of their two sons, Jon and Ben, both of whom their dad was especially proud. During the last twelve years, Lanny created a hobby farm and worked as a long-distance truck driver in Stonewall, MB. Animals, hay-making and the raising of English Shire horses were his passions along with hockey, soccer, baseball and any other activities involving his boys. Jon and Ben learned to drive tractors, fix cars, throw bales and work in the barn, all with the help of their dad. He was always there for them and guided them every step of the way. Times with family and fishing with brother Doug were also very special and meaningful for him. At the same time, in the community, Lanny's generous nature and laid-back personality became known and many good friends were made. A sincere thank you is extended at this time to all the friends, neighbors, and colleagues who have given assistance during Lance's illness. You are too numerous to name but greatly appreciated. In addition, the family would like to extend sincere appreciation to the staff of the GD4 ward of the Health Sciences Centre who were wonderful in their devotion to Lance and the family during this difficult time. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 18 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., with a reception to follow. Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca DEAR HUSBAND, FATHER, BROTHER, UNCLE, COUSIN, FRIEND, WE WILL MISS YOU FOREVER. GOD BLESS.
