ALBERT HENRY MEADS On March 11, 2006 at the age of 89 years, Albert Meads passed away peacefully with his wife Irene and family by his side. Dad was born May 9, 1916 in Calverton, Nottinghamshire, England. His parents and six siblings immigrated to Canada in 1926 landing in Nova Scotia and settling south of Stonewall. After his parents retired Albert and Irene, who were just newly wed, took over the family farm. Albert and Irene worked side-by-side farming and raising seven children. A farmer to the core, Dad loved farm life and lived on the farm for 79 years. Dad's main interests in life were his family and farming and in later years gardening, growing fruit trees and bird watching. His binoculars were never too far from his side. Dad loved to sing and play the mouth organ by ear. Dad and Mom were able to go back to England and visit Norway a couple times where they connected with some family members and made some wonderful new friends. He was extremely proud of his family, his three sons, four daughters, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and he was looking forward to his third great-grandchild due this April. Albert is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Irene; two sons, Ron (Janet), Brian (Sharon); four daughters, Lillian (Dennis) Robinson, Lorna (Gary) Armstrong, Dorothy Meads and Lori (Kerry) Baldock; grandchildren, Lee, Shelly (late Rick Grandmont), Darryl (Terri, Kyle, Jeremy), Philip, Marcy, Darren, Bryan, Lindsay and Ryan, and great-grand-children Jesse and Joshua. He is also survived by his sisters, Nell Smith and Winnifred (Joe) Doak; sisters-in-law, Emma Meads, Mabel Meads, Florence McLean; and brothers-in-law, Ken Appleyard, Helmer (Irene) Kwamsoos and Walter (Helen) Kwamsoos. Albert was predeceased by his son Arthur; parents Arthur and Maria; brothers, Arthur, John and Frank Meads; sisters, Lillian Meads, Mary Walker and Viola Appleyard; and brothers-in-law, Jim Walker and Jim Smith. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the Stonewall Ambulance Service for their quick response and care and to the doctors and nurses of Stonewall and District Health Centre for their wonderful care and support. The service will be held at New Life Baptist Church on Thursday, March 16 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Stonewall Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society. We love him very much and will always remember him. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
