FRANK KLASSEN Peacefully, on Saturday March 11, 2006 Frank Klassen of Victoria, BC, at the age of 89, passed away at the Aberdeen Hospital, Lansdowne Unit with his children at his side. Born in southern Russia, Frank immigrated to Canada with his parents, brothers and sisters in 1923 at the age of six. His parents established their farm just south of Fannystelle, Manitoba. In 1942 he married Christine (nee Speidel) of Winnipeg and established his own farm outside Fannystelle where he farmed until retirement. Frank also worked at various jobs in Winnipeg during the winter months. He had two children Helene and Frank (Jr.). In 1979 Frank and Christine moved to Victoria where they happily lived out their retirement years. Frank was predeceased by his beloved wife Christine, who passed away June 5, 2004 in Victoria; his parents Julius A. and Helena Klassen (nee Thiessen); his sister Mary Neustaedter of Vernon, BC; and his brother Abe Klassen of Vancouver. He is survived by his daughter Helene and son-in-law Ken Core of Qualicum Beach, BC; his son Frank Klassen (Jr.) of White Rock, BC; granddaughter Pamela and great-grandchildren Jordan, Shelby, Bryne and Skylar of Edmonton; his sister Helen Adams of Winnipeg; brothers Julius Klassen of Winnipeg and Jack Klassen of Fannystelle; and numerous nieces and nephews. Frank will always be remembered as a quiet, unassuming, gentle and kind man who deeply loved his family. He will be remembered in our hearts forever. Special thanks to the staff of Aberdeen Hospital, Lansdowne Unit, for their compassion and care during Frank's residence there. A private family service will be held Wednesday, March 15, 2006 in Victoria.
