Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLILIAN PARKER (nee KANIK) September 22, 1922 March 10, 2006 With great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Lilian Parker, aged 83. Lilian passed away peacefully, Friday, March 10, 2006, at the Golden Door Geriatric Centre. Lilian leaves to mourn her passing, sons, Gary (Joan) and Craeg (Sharon) of Winnipeg; and grandchildren Jennifer (Matt) of Edmonton and Jeffrey. She will also be missed by her nephews, cousins, other family members and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Ed Parker; her parents Albert and Mary Kanik; her brother Joe Kanik; and her sisters, Stef Hardesty and Connie Dzikowicz. She was born in Winnipeg and lived all her life here. She attended Lord Nelson and Isaac Newton Schools. After her marriage to Ed in 1946, she devoted her time to raising her family and pursuing her many interests. Lilian loved music, and would never tire of hearing songs from Tony, Ella, or Frank. She enjoyed the theatre and concerts and attended when she could. Lilian especially enjoyed conversation with her friends and family. She also enjoyed watching golf on TV, her favorites were Mike Weir and Fred Couples. For the last six and a half years, prior to its announced closures, Lilian was a resident of the Fort Garry Care Centre. The family extends its sincere thanks to the staff at Fort Garry Care Centre for their loving and devoted care of Mom. Celebration of life service will be held on Friday, March 17, at 1:00 p.m. at the Wheeler Funeral Chapel, 701 Regent Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Association of Manitoba or the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Wheeler Funeral Chapel 224-1525.
