SIGRIDUR HULDA DIEDRICH Peacefully, on Sunday, March 12, 2006 at the Gimli Betel Home, Hulda Diedrich, aged 88 years of Gimli. She was born July 4, 1917 in Wynyard, SK, the daughter of Sigtryggur and Kristin Kristjansson. Hulda grew up and attended school in Gimli and then moved to Reykjavik, Iceland where she met her husband, Clarence J. (Bud) Diedrich. She and her husband moved to the United States where they operated a Dairy Queen store in Worthington, MN, St. James, MN and Webster City, Iowa. Hulda returned to Gimli in 1977 and worked several years at the Viking Motel. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Gunnar (Kathy) Kristjanson of Bloomington, MN and Sivar (Joan) Diedrich of Aitkin, MN; four grandchildren, Melanie Belew, Waterloo, IA, Jan Moore, Bloomington, MN, Eric Diedrich, Radcliffe, IA and Jerry Kristjanson, Bloomington, MN; eight great-grandchildren and a sister Charlotte Kristjanson of Winnipeg, MB. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Clarence J. (Bud) Diedrich, three brothers, Olafur of Edmonton, Bjorn of Saskatoon and Gudmundur of Brandon and one sister Osk Kristjanson of Iceland. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 16 at 1:30 p.m. in the St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Gimli. A viewing will be held prior to Mass. Interment to follow in the Gimli Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donation's can be made to the Betel Home Foundation, Box 50, Gimli, MB., R0C 1B0.
