Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVALERIE DIANNE ELI - PHELPS (nee IVENIUK) February 12, 1947 - March 11, 2006 Peacefully, after a brief illness, Valerie passed away with her husband Stephen at her side. Born in Winnipeg, she grew up in South Point Douglas, attending Argyle, Aberdeen, and Tec Voc Schools. Throughout her life, she was a loving family person, personally talented, and a hard working, dedicated individual. Being a child at heart, it showed in her loving relationships with her nieces and nephews. Valerie was a talented seamstress, surprising us with her creations of clothing, costumes, and puppets. Through her creative writings, she prepared a family history which we cherish. Some of her work life included being a Coordinator for the Western Canadian Games, Administrative Secretary at the CBC, Coordinator for the Contemporary Dancers, Fundraising Coordinator with the United Way, Administrative Director of the Main Access Gallery for over a decade, and recently, at Cangene in regulatory affairs. She was predeceased by her father James, sister Julie, nephew Andrew, and niece Kimberly. Valerie is survived by her husband Stephen; mother Mary; brothers, Martin (Jackie), Bill (Denise), Mark, and Patrick; sisters, Terry (Bob), and Virginia; brothers-in-law Michael (Joy), Johnny; sisters-in-law Maria and Monica; and many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. At Valerie's request, a private family gathering is planned. Donations may be made to the Friends of the Assiniboine Park Conservatory, 15 Conservatory Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3P 2N5. Happy memories, fond and true From us who thought the World of you. Beautiful memories are treasured forever Of happy days when we were together Always remembered. Valerie, my love, my life. Every breath I draw is a memory that pains. With crushed heart I carry you to my grave. Your beloved Stephen, forever.

Many a time we would walk home from school, sometimes meet in the evening in the Pt. Douglas area and talked. Thank you for the memories. - Posted by: Ihor Pona (Aberdeen Junior High friend) on: Aug 18, 2018
