Born: Mar 24, 1933
Date of Passing: Mar 15, 2006
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHENRY (HANK) GEORGE DECUYPERE As a result of a stroke, our beloved Henry DeCuypere passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at the Riverview Health Centre, Winnipeg. Henry will be lovingly missed by his wife Henrietta (nee Blanchard); his sons, David and Michael (Joane and Nicolas); his sister Denise Landry of Texas; his brother Donald (Emma) of Bourget, ON and also by many nieces, nephews and friends. He was born March 24, 1933, and lived in the Winnipeg area most of his life. He graduated from Provencher Collegiate Institute in 1951. His interest in amateur radio and electronics led him into his career. He held various jobs and roles first in local radio stations, then with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. When retired after 33 years, he held the post of Manager, TV Technical. Because Henry had a heart for the underprivileged, he became actively involved in community development projects, such as the CBC Winnipeg Employees Credit Union, CHAM Holdings Inc., Cooperative Housing Association of Manitoba, Alpha House and West Broadway Housing Development. He and Henrietta enjoyed their cottage at Grindstone Provincial Park, with family and friends. Appreciation of nature in all its aspects was quickly passed on to their sons. He created the Grindstone Bird Watchers Club there. Henry was an active member of Christ the King Church. We are blessed to have had him in our lives and he will remain in our hearts. The family thanks the staff of the 3rd Floor East Wing of the Riverview Health Centre for their great care and patience. Prayers, viewing and eulogies begin at 7:00 p.m. at Christ the King Church, 847 St. Mary's Rd., Winnipeg, on Sunday, March 19. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, March 20 at 10:00 a.m. also at Christ the King Church. Interment at Green Acres Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to Campaign Life Coalition, 305-104 Bond St, Toronto, ON M5B 1X9, or to Christ the King Church. GREEN ACRES Funeral Home and Cemetery Hwy. A generous and caring uncle with a love for life, Henry will be missed. Always thoughtful to his nieces and nephews, the children of his sister Denise and brother Don, we will remember fondly his visits to Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, and many other places.
